How to prepare for the DİM entrance exam at home with AI

You can prepare for Azerbaijan's university entrance exam, run by the State Examination Centre (DİM), from home with AI: find weak topics with DİM-format practice tests, learn each one with a tutor that explains, review mistakes on a schedule and finish with timed practice. Official rules, dates, registration and results always come from dim.gov.az.

How the entrance exam works: groups, subjects and task types

Admission to groups I to IV takes two stages. Stage one is the 11th-grade graduation exam: your language of instruction (Azerbaijani or Russian), a foreign language and mathematics, worth up to 300 points. Stage two, often called the block exam, covers your group's three subjects with 30 tasks each. The first two subjects carry a coefficient of 1.5 and the third 1, so stage two is worth up to 400 points and both stages together up to 700.

In DİM's 2026 model, which DİM says stays the same for 2027, each subject block has 22 closed tasks (pick one option), 5 open tasks with a coded answer and 3 written-answer tasks: independent problems in group I, tasks built on a text, a situation or a source in groups II to IV.

Students in the Russian sector sit the same exam in Russian (Russian-language sources call the centre ГЭЦ). Entrance exams run twice per academic year, in a spring and a summer session, and DİM also holds its own mock exams. Dates, registration and passing scores change yearly, so check dim.gov.az. The groups:

  • Group I: mathematics, physics, chemistry (RK) or mathematics, physics, informatics (Rİ)
  • Group II: mathematics, geography, history
  • Group III: language, history, literature (DT) or language, history, geography (TC), with language meaning your language of instruction
  • Group IV: biology, chemistry, physics
  • Group V (arts, sport and other ability-based specialties): no second stage; the first-stage result counts with ability exams

Step 1: find your weak topics with DİM-format practice tests

Start with a diagnostic, not chapter one. Take a short practice test in each group subject and write down the topic of every wrong answer. “I scored 60%” says little; “I lost all three logarithm questions” tells you exactly where next week goes.

Note why each mistake happened: you didn't know the rule, misread the question, slipped in arithmetic or ran out of time. Each needs a different fix. After two or three tests, your weak-topic list is your plan.

OrujovAI's /exam builds DİM-format practice tests in 8 subjects at three difficulty levels, including abituriyent, with an explanation for every question, results tracking and weak topics. They are short multiple-choice sets in the DİM style, not official papers, and don't cover coded or written-answer tasks, literature or informatics yet.

Step 2: learn each weak topic with a tutor that explains

A wrong answer turns into points only once you understand the idea behind it. Learn the rule, follow one worked example, then solve two or three similar problems alone before checking. Here AI genuinely helps: ask “why does this step work?” as often as you need.

Use AI to learn, not to copy: ask for explanations, checks and new problems, but think for yourself. There is no phone in the exam hall.

OrujovAI's Live Tutor (/tutor) teaches a topic out loud as slides on a live board, with quick checks. Its Abituriyent Path covers the DİM subjects topic by topic with checkpoint quizzes, and seven free example lessons on DİM topics, from quadratic equations to Ohm's law, replay for anyone (they are in Azerbaijani). Solve (/solve) turns a typed or photographed maths or physics problem into a step-by-step solution with a graph, then offers a similar one to practise.

Step 3: work on your mistakes and review them on a schedule

Keep a mistake bank: the question, your wrong answer, the correct method in one line and why you slipped. Re-solve each item from scratch after a day, three days, a week and a few weeks. It is closed only when you solve it unaided twice in a row. That is what turns “I understood it” into “I can do it in the exam”.

In Live Tutor, missed checkpoint questions go into a personal mistake bank and return as spaced re-checks and “Review my mistakes” lessons.

Preparing without a course, and when a course still helps

Many students prepare at home, and it works if you keep a weekly schedule, study from DİM's official subject programme, practise with DİM-style questions and check yourself honestly. AI now covers much of what a course did: explanations and fresh practice on demand, even at 11 pm.

A teacher or a course still helps if a topic keeps beating you, if you can't study regularly alone, if you need written answers marked properly, or if you're aiming for a specialty with a high passing score. A common middle path: study at home, take a few lessons on your hardest topics and sit DİM's mock exam.

Prefer company? A study room (/study) puts friends on one timer while an AI teacher keeps everyone on task.

A weekly plan for the last months before the exam

Plan by the week. On heavy school days, shorten the plan rather than skip it.

  1. Monday to Friday: 60–90 minutes on one weak topic and 15 minutes of mistake review.
  2. Rotate subjects, and give extra time to whichever 1.5-coefficient subject is weaker.
  3. Saturday: one timed mixed set per subject, then log every mistake with its reason.
  4. Sunday: light review and choosing next week's topics.
  5. Once a month: a full timed mock under real exam conditions.
  6. Last two weeks: no new topics, just timed practice, the mistake bank and sleep.

Questions

Where can I take a DİM practice test online for free?

DİM posts its programmes and mock-exam news on dim.gov.az. OrujovAI's /exam builds free DİM-format tests in 8 subjects, with explanations. Any online test, ours included, is practice, not an official DİM paper.

Can AI help me prepare for the DİM exam?

Yes, as a tutor that explains, checks your solutions and writes new practice questions. Copying its answers won't help in the exam hall: understand first, then solve alone.

What are coded questions in the DİM exam?

Open tasks with no options: you find the answer yourself (in maths usually a number) and enter it in the coding grid of the answer sheet. Each subject block has 5. Check the exact rules on dim.gov.az.

Can I prepare for the DİM entrance exam without a course?

Many do, with a weekly plan, DİM's official programme and regular DİM-style practice. Get a teacher for topics you keep failing or to mark your written answers.

Can I practise in Russian for the Russian sector?

Yes. Switch OrujovAI's interface to Russian and /exam writes its DİM-format questions in Russian.
